For the potluck dinner each family will be asked to bring:
1. A main course that will serve eight;
2. Families whose last names begin with A-L should bring a dessert
3. Families whose last names begin with M-Z should bring a salad or vegetable
4. Serving utensils

For the third year in a row, the boys soccer team volunteered their time to help OFSA close down Schady Road Soccer fields… thanks to all who showed up and make this annual event go smoothly!

One of the best ways to get a better understanding of the game of soccer is to take what you have learned and help teach it to others.  This doesn’t mean teaching things you don’t know but rather, taking what has been taught to you and teaching others.

One of the things you will find is when you teach others, it makes you really concentrate on doing things properly because you don’t want to teach incorrectly.  By concentrating on teaching others properly, it forces you to think about the way you do it and frequently, it will make you a better player as well.  Thus, working with younger players will make them a better player, you a better player, and will help the coaches.  It’s a true win/win/win, but it does require you taking the initiative.

What we are going to do this spring is begin the Travel Soccer Mentoring Program:  we will be assigning a varsity player or two to each travel team for the spring season.  Players will be responsible for helping the coach train the team.  That means that you will be at each training session (once a week) to help in anyway possible, hopefully showing them some of the activities that we do on a daily basis.  This way, we can help build the high school program by building the travel program.  (If players can make the travel games, that would be great as well.)  

What I need to know is who is interested in helping out so I can start planning (upperclassmen… another great resume / college application / OFSA Scholarship opportunity)… I am even opening this up to graduating seniors if you are interested as well… 

Just drop me an email and I will get a list going… after I get the list, I will set up a time to meet with everyone and to get together with the coaches…

Again… this is a GREAT OPPORTUNITY to BUILD the soccer program in the community…

The Olmsted Falls Soccer Association (OFSA) will award two $500 scholarships. Scholarship will be granted to one male and one female graduating high school senior student who will attend college. A one-time scholarship of $500.00 will be awarded to each.  All applicants must be well-rounded students who are committed to working hard in their academic pursuits while also making good decisions in their everyday lives. Although participation in soccer at the college level is not a prerequisite for this scholarship, playing collegiate soccer will be looked upon as a means of determining selection as will post high school coaching or officiating.

To be eligible for the OFSA Scholarship you must first have completed the Local Scholarship Application – available in the Olmsted Falls High School guidance office.
