Our time to shine begins NOW! You and your teammates have come up with the following five goals for the 2011 season. We like them. Now the question is, how are we going to achieve them? What are you going to specifically do to accomplish these goals? What you do between now and August will determine the success and fulfillment of these goals.

Win Districts
Top 3 in the SWC
Win every home game
Score a goal in every game
Win 3 or 4 of the first 5 games

First Show it in Training

“Too often, I have heard players say “if only the coach would give me a chance…”.

The thing to realize is coaches don’t give players chances. Players EARN chances.

If you want to show you can score goals in a game, first show it in training.

If you want to show you are a better keeper than the starting keeper, first show it in training.

If you want to show you deserve to play an entire game but now are only getting play half the game, then show it in the half you are getting.

It’s easy to say what you could do if given a chance, the key is to show it WHEN given a chance.

I do realize there are many players who feel they are “gamers” and don’t show well in training but if they want to earn the right to show in games, they need to first show in any opportunity they can.

Don’t wait to be given an opportunity, if you want the chance, take advantage of any opportunities you can.”

“If Not Now, When?”

PRIDE and spirit is something that has to be developed. You will not gain any pride or any school spirit for that matter by a half-hearted performance. The level of your pride is, therefore, directly proportional to the extent of your effort. Strive to become the best person, the best son, the best student, and the best soccer player you can become.

The success of the season is NOW, in the off-season, not at the start of the season.

All players must purchase the three colored training shirts (Oxford Grey, White, Safety Green)… many players find it helpful to order extra shirts… they do get dirty throughout the season…

There are other items as well… shorts… sweatshirts… training tops… and… by popular demand… sweatpants… and they can be personalized with both name and numbers!

Wednesday, June 29 is deadline for orders and then have them ready to be picked up at the Schady Road Soccer Pavilion Friday July 15, 2011 at 6:00 PM.

Academic Excellence

Gentlemen…

The fourth quarter is underway… this is the key quarter for athletic eligibility and your ability to play soccer in the fall… you must pass 5 credits the final grading period this year to be eligible!!!

Now is not the time to slack off… now is not the time to become complacent… now is the time to get serious…

I want and I expect to see all of you trying out in the fall!!! However, I do not just want to see each and everyone of you eligible to tryout… I want this year to be the third year where the Olmsted Falls High School Boys Soccer Team earns the Ohio Scholastic Soccer Coaches Association Award for TEAM ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE. To accomplish this, we must have a team GPA average of 3.0. You CAN DO THIS!!!

Moreover, last year was the first time in the history of the school that Olmsted Falls was awarded the National Scholastic Soccer Coaches Association’s All-American Team Academic Award for having a 3.25 GPA… it would be great to see that honor for the second year…

Get busy in the classroom… this is going to be an enjoyable soccer season…
